An insurance policy for the rural landless farmers in Bihar has been launched by the state government.
The scheme christened as 'Aam Adami Bima Yojana' was launched by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at Arwal and Jehanabad districts on Thursday.
Under the scheme the farmers will not have to pay the premium. The Centre and the state will pay Rs 100 each as premium for every beneficiary, official sources said.
The scheme, which is claimed to be the first of its kind in the state, is expected to benefit over two lakh landless farmers.
The head or an earning member of the landless family in the age group of 18 years to 59 years will be enrolled as members of the scheme.
In case of natural death before the end of insurance period, the nominated person will get Rs 30,000 while in case of death in an accident, the insured person will get Rs 75,000.
In case of partial disability, the beneficiary will get a payment of Rs 37,500.
The scheme also provides educational benefits to the insured families.
