Chief minister Nitish Kumar has asked cinema hall owners in the state to observe the standards and norms for safety and hygiene in their halls so that people could relish watching movies.

Addressing the annual function of Bihar-Jharkhand Motion Pictures' Association here on Wednesday, Nitish stressed the need for a film city in Patna and said the government would play the role of a facilitator and provide land. Those in the film industry should come forward for the purpose, he added.

"I used to see night shows as a college student. In recent times I watched `Mangal Pandey' in Delhi and `Slumdog Millionaire' in Patna," he said. He said if producers show interest in shooting movies on locations in the state, his government would provide all the facilities and security. "I may personally go to see the shooting," he said.
