NRIs Come Forward To Support Kids In Bihar
A seven-year-old boy who was forced to earn and take care of his two younger cousins in a Bihar village is now being offered help by a number of non-resident Indians.
Govinda, a resident of Sonepur village in Saran district, about 50 km from Patna, dropped out of school and did odd jobs to feed himself and his cousins Sonu, 5, and Pinky, 3, after his mother's death. He was deserted by his father. He sought support from some villagers but in vain. Now that his plight has been publicised, over a dozen NRIs have offered support to Govinda. "NRIs approached us to help Govinda to get out of this difficult situation," said Rajesh Kumar Thakur, a reporter in a Hajipur newspaper. He had highlighted Govinda's plight last week. Thakur said Britain-based NRIs Upendra Mane, Joyti Balraj, Chandra K Sekhar and US-based Rim Jhim Kapoor have offered to help Govinda Source: sify.com NRIs come forward to support kids in Bihar By ugesh sarkar, Section Patna Group Posted on Wed Feb 11, 2009 at 10:46:49 PM EST
