Earlier, PUTA had demanded implementation of the chancellor's order regarding "one person, one post" for smooth functioning of the university. At present, one person is holding several offices, causing dislocation of work. Lal said that the university had already taken a decision to this effect and the same would be implemented very soon.

He further assured the delegation that the repair of all dilapidated buildings of the university would be undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 38 lakh "before the onset of the monsoon". Necessary steps in this direction have already been initiated, he added.

PU would not discriminate in matters of promotion of any category of teachers. Screening of all promotion cases, including those of the 2003 batch, have already been taken up by the university, he said. The VC, however, rejected the association's demand for inclusion of PUTA's representatives in the promotion committee since two senior teachers have already been included in the committee. He also promised to transfer the services of Shailendra Kumar from B N College to Patna College soon.

The delegation demanded early release of nine months salary of PUTA president and PU chemistry teacher Dharm Prakash, implementation of the revised rate of examination remunerations to teachers, pay fixation of upgraded demonstrators and payment of arrears of revised UGC scales of at least one year, said association general secretary Randhir Kumar Singh.
