Rs 500 cr Spent On 450 Govt Buildings

State building construction minister Chhedi Paswan on Thursday said at least 300 building construction projects of various government departments could not be completed due to non-availability of land.

Of the Rs 900 crore provided by different government departments for 1,500 building construction projects, a sum of Rs 500 crore was spent on completing about 450 projects, he said.

The maximum building construction projects were approved by the department of health, welfare and social welfare for which more than Rs 600 crore was provided to the building construction department. The minister said he has asked his department officials to seek the help of the state administration for making land available to start work on the remaining 300 projects.

The minister reviewed the progress of building project works thrice in May and June and directed the department engineers to complete the projects and hand over the constructed buildings to the respective departments.

Talking to newsmen, the minister said the maximum building projects completed were those of the health department. They included construction of sadar hospital buildings in five districts, sub -divisional hospital buildings in six districts, 22 primary health centre buildings, 77 health sub-centre buildings, upgradation of 77 additional primary health centre buildings, upgradation of 16 sub-divisional hospital buildings and upgradation of three referral hospital buildings.

Besides, four Soochna Bhawan and three circuit house buildings were constructed while eight buildings were constructed on the Bhagalpur Engineering College campus. Also, the IIT-Patna building at Government Polytechnic and five buildings of project girls schools were constructed by the department, he added.
