he Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) has signed a power purchase agreement with NTPC to buy 1900 MW additional power per day.
The state would purchase 85 per cent power from the NTPC's 2×195 MW Kanti (Muzaffarpur) thermal plant, 75 per cent from the 3×660 MW Nabinagar (Aurangabad) power plant and another 100 MW from the 1000 MW joint venture project of NTPC and Railways at Nabinagar.
The effective implementation of the agreement will commence in a phase-wise manner from 2012.
The state currently Bihar receives 800-1,000 MW from the central pool despite the scheduled allocation of 1,553 MW per day.
